Managed service spending will increase next year, according to a recent survey. To see also : Spending on Managed Services, Especially Security, To Inch Up in 2022.

The “2022 State of IT” report by Spiceworks Ziff Davis (SWZD), released Tuesday, surveyed more than 1,000 IT buyers in North America and Europe to gauge the direction of trends in IT spending in 2022. More than half of respondents said they expect an increase in their IT budgets. in the coming year, and by a significant amount too — an average of 26 percent over 2021.

Most of next year’s budget is expected to be spent on hardware (about 30 percent of total IT spending), followed by software (28 percent) and cloud services (26 percent).

Comparatively, spending on managed services will be only a small part of the cake — only 17 percent of the total budget. However, those 2022 projections are an improvement over this year and 2020. And within the broader “managed services” category there are some interesting trends for partners.

Security Is The Key

“Managed security, managed hosting, managed storage/backup, managed hardware support, managed cloud infrastructure, and managed business applications are expected to account for the largest share of the managed services budget by 2022,” the report authors wrote.

Managed security services will see a very significant spike in interest, they said. Since the pandemic forced many workers out of their offices last year and into remote work scenarios, businesses have been looking for ways to secure their employees, no matter where they are and what devices they are using. With remote work and hybrid work models widely accepted, and with the pandemic still ongoing in many parts of the world, the need for managed security services is likely to continue into 2022.

“One area of technology where adoption is steadily increasing – despite the pandemic – is emerging security solutions,” the report authors said. “Driven by the need to secure remote workers and the ongoing threat of ransomware, companies will forge ahead with investments in emerging security solutions.”

Overall, organizations plan to increase their adoption of security technologies, but the top five categories are:

Larger companies and businesses in highly regulated industries (such as financial services firms) will be the most willing to adopt and invest in new security services, according to the report.

Cloud Spending Reflects the Rise of Remote Work

SWZD expects half of all workloads by 2023 to run in the cloud, which explains the steady increase in spending on cloud-based services in recent years (at the expense of spending on legacy hardware).

The majority of cloud spending in 2022 will be spent on productivity solutions and backup/restore/restore products, in line with historical trends. However, the fastest growing cloud technologies are around security and desktop-as-a-service products. After all, it’s a “relevant app in a not-so-alternative reality where more employees are working from home,” according to the report.

  • Memory designed for use in servers comes in several types with different performance profiles. Server memory is a bit erroneous. While server hardware is designed for slightly different uses than PC hardware, as long as the motherboard is compatible, any memory can be used in a PC.
  • Server memory is Random Access Memory (RAM) which processes data from HDD to CPU. As a volatile form of memory, when the server memory is turned off, it loses all the information it stores. One way to think about this is that your RAM module is short-term memory, and your HDD is long-term memory.
  • Assuming your motherboard and CPU support it, then yes. But it must be said that server RAM works a little differently than regular desktop RAM. Server RAM is built to run and last longer while having far fewer errors, and is available in much larger capacities.
