Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and the Belgian communications service provider, Telenet, are expanding their managed services partnership through a five-year contract in which Ericsson will take responsibility for planning, design, operations and optimization. The agreement also includes the implementation and seamless integration of 5G hardware into Telenet’s mobile network.
Under the contract, Telenet will implement the Ericsson Operations Engine in 2022, which consists of the latest in AI and automation to improve the performance of its mobile network and offer an improved user experience. Telenet announced the selection of Ericsson as a supplier of 5G radio access network (RAN) in the network modernization agreement published in March 2021.
Ericsson’s network optimization services will also be provided under contract. The solution combines the expertise of multiple network vendors with the latest cognitive software package with AI. This functionality will improve the user experience and ensure superior returns from Telenet’s deployed network assets. Ericsson will also expand its current mobile operations center by monitoring the fixed network.
Under the agreement, Ericsson will employ 15 Telenet mobile network professionals while maintaining their current terms of employment.
Micha Berger, Chief Technology Officer, Telenet, says: “We are pleased to strengthen our long-term partnership with Ericsson as part of our vision to build a 5G network ready for the future that provides our customers with a world-class experience. We are confident that these new technologies will provide our customers with a superior mobile experience. ”
Franck Bouétard, Head of Ericsson in Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Algeria and Tunisia, says: “The extension and extension of our managed services contract is a recognition of our operational performance as a trusted partner of Telenet and complements our 5G RAN contract. As Belgium continues its move towards 5G, we are honored to expand our partnership with a key player such as Telenet to provide leading 5G services to Belgian consumers. ”
