it's always been awsome seeing them at the different lakes over the years but when they started wintering less than a 1/4 mile from home it makes ya want to go out of the way in the morning just to see them. i want to get a stronger zoom for the nikon and get some good close up's.

Great looking pictures! It just stirs something inside to see those that were missing so long
back again. Like another post I read somewhere about watching otters where they were
fishing. Even if you don't get a bite, something like that makes it a real special time.

I've watched them swoop down and catch fish in Wisconsin and  Canada. So neat to see in person. Great pics, thanks!!

every winter here at heritage lake we have a few visitors that come and watch over the lake, like clockwork, when the lakes freeze up these visitors come in serch of food.. last year there was a large shad kill just before the ice came on, this gave them plenty of food for the whole winter, twice when i went to the roadbed to fish they were on the ice picking shad out to eat. this year there has only been two adults show up, last year we had two adults and two young ones that had not gotten thier white head and tailfeathers...here are a couple pics that I took this morning while i was charging the batteries on my work van.
