randy's right....80 degrees and up is a no no for muskie fishing. We didn't realize this until we posted a video a few years ago of my son catching one in 83 degree water. We caught a bunch of flack from muskie fisherman. We haven't muskie fished in hot water since....we just don't want to chance harming one of these big old fish.

I have been musky fishing for over 15 years. in my experience, releasing hundreds of muskies, Musky Fishing when the water is 80 degrees or warmer is NOT safe for the muskies. it's not safe. High water temps result in lower oxygen in the water and excessive lactic acid in the muscles. Delay Mortality for released muskies is MUCH MUCH higher when the water temps are that high. You might want to switch to a different species during the hot months.

Hey guys, just wanting to know if there is a water temp that one should no longer target Muskie, being it would be harder for the fish to recover due to stress r?

Thought I read something about this and I'm not sure if it's true or not. Don't want to kill any Skies. Thanks
