I'm not a fall mushroom hunter, although I have been studying up on the fall varieties. I picked this one out of the yard last night after work that I believe is a pink bottom(meadow mushroom/pinky/Agaricus compestris).

I've seen a few of these in the yard this week and noticed a "ring" of them in a neighbors yard.

What are Pink Bottoms and Shaggy Manes ??

Pink bottoms are what you usually find in the fall in cut yards. They are flat white mushrooms with a pink spiny bottom. They are usually found with the little button mushrooms which are like you get with steaks at a restaurant. The Shaggy Manes are also a fall mushroom. They are a tall mushroom that looks like a closed umbrella. They are good for about 2 days after sprouting. Then the ends start turning black and get real slimy. They are good sauteed.

Went fishing at the pond today. Could not believe what I found. I found my first patch of Pink Bottoms for the year. I will post when I figure out how again.
