For Indiana Ice Anglers and Fishermen, this is the best, and biggest Indiana ice fishing contest anywhere in the Great Lakes area.
We are expecting over 3000 ice anglers to attend from all over the Midwest and Great Lakes area.
This contest, Ice fishing derby, or tournament is open to everyone. It is a very pretigous tournament and brings out the best Indiana ice anglers there are ! But only when and if they dare ! lol

Ice Fishing Derby
When: January 21, 2012
Where: Loomis Lake at Rogers Lakewood Park north of Valparaiso
What: "Friends of Fishing" (a group of fisherman from NW Indiana) is partnering with the Valparaiso Parks Department to host a Ice Fishing Derby.
Why: All profits will go to construct a new ramp on Loomis Lake and to stock walleye in Loomis.
Cost: $10/adult $5/under 17 if registered before Feb. 4th. You can register online after Jan. 3rd through the Valpo Parks Website or as a walk in at their office.

We will have 5 categories: Panfish(gills/redear), Crappie, Walleye, Bass and Big Fish.
We will have plaques for 1st place in each category
We will have prizes for 1-3 places in each category
We will have an adult and a child division.
Concessions will be sold.
The goal of "Friends of Fishing" is to improve the fishing on the Valpo Chain of Lakes. We have goals to improve access on the lakes as well as stocking and clean up projects. Our group is made up of fisherman that fish the lakes and we'd welcome anyone to join us.
