Road Conditions Road and Weather Information

Thank you for visiting the Indiana State Police.

Since 1998, the Indiana State Police has provided weather related road information on the internet during the winter driving season. Approximately two years ago, ISP began research into the information provided to the public pertaining to road conditions. After the completion of our research, we contacted the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) about the information they provide. INDOT has agreed to take over all road condition reporting responsibilities which will include the 1-800-261-7623 Road Conditions phone line and the new http://www.trafficwise.in.gov/ webpage. Information such as road maintenance, construction and weather conditions will be available. During winter operations, road conditions will be reported based on pavement condition.

In addition, the Indiana State Police has 15 posts located throughout the state, all available 24 hours a day via 800 phone numbers, available at: http://www.in.gov/isp/2382.htm. The Indiana State Police also suggests consulting local television or radio stations, or any weather information source on the internet. Additionally, The Indiana State Police encourages you to use the following tools:

TrafficWise:  http://www.in.gov/indot/2788.htm
INDOT Road and Weather Sensors:  http://netservices.indot.in.gov/rwis/
National Weather Service:  http://www.nws.noaa.gov/
