We always referred to that as the "Little Dam" and of course upstream from that is 10th street dam or "The Big Dam" ..... BUT .... the "Old Dam" is downstream next to the confluence of the Eel & Wabash ... in the Eel.  1b2

The one on the eel that you are asking about is behind the municipal utilities building. I believe that you take 3rd. street across the eel river bridge take a right after the bridge, there is a public access area on the right side of that road, last time I was there 6-7 yrs. ago, I done pretty good with the smallies, word of warning though, it is very slippery and alot of people fish there.

The "OLD DAM" was a wooden dam and its remains lie between the railroad bridge and the US24 Bridge, kinda out from the back end of Michelin Tire. If you don't know what your looking for its kinda hard to find but it almost resembles an old corduroy road (i.e. a bunch of old timbers layered in a row from one side of the river to the other).

There is a small Island between the two bridges and straight down stream from that Island there is a very deep hole that runs next to a very large limestone bolder, stand up by the Island and cast towards the bolder and see what happens.

I might add that most people overlook the Wabash River, for some odd reason most people think its only good for Catfish & Carp but it contains just about every species you would want to catch.

skipper where is that old dam in Logansport on Eel River? People tell me it's a good place to fish sometimes. Just curious thought about going there one day to check it out. Also, maybe you can point me in the right direction for some good spots on the Wabash in that area. Maybe bridges, deep pockets, etc.

The Island you are referring to is Biddles Island and yes you are correct that the North side of the Island is about 4-6 foot deep and the South side is 2-4 foot deep and the fishing there is great!!

Just upstream from the conjunction of the Eel on the Wabash there is a Public Access and if you can find someone to drop your truck off behind France Park at the Public Access there, that little 6-mile trip can produce some fantastic fishing for Small Mouth,  Catfish, and carp.

I fished where the Eel and Wabash meet. The Eel River tends to be fairly swift water so be careful. The Eel River near the Wabash conjunction is about 3 foot deep in most places and it's hard to fish unless you have waders. I did better where the two rivers met because there is limestone bottom and then a little dip to say 6 foot deep there. You can wade up to that little dropoff and fish for silvers/catfish/carp. There is also an island there and on the one side it's deep and good for fishing as well (along the road). I caught several fish there in one outing. Just be careful because the current in both the Wabash and Eel Rivers can be harsh and waders are definitely needed. You can park close to the bridge in Logansport at one of the shops around and walk down to the river or walk across the railroad bridge to get to the conjunction.
